About Slate Stone
Fine grained slate with a natural cleft surface
Slate is a fine grained metamorphic stone formed from clay and shale under heat and pressure. It splits into thin layers along natural planes which gives each piece its textured face. The look is rustic and the stone is very durable.
Slate has low water absorption and stands up well to frost and rain. Its natural cleft surface is slip resistant so it works well for floors, patios and wet areas. It is also a classic roofing material and a favorite for wall cladding and fireplace surrounds.
We supply slate in calibrated tiles, random paving, wall cladding panels and cut to size pieces. Colors range from deep black to rusty multicolor and green. Each lot is checked for thickness and shade before packing.
